OLD TOWN BAR

Old Town Bar is the largest urban agglomeration in ruins in Montenegro.It’s a carrier of a turbulent history and medieval civilizations.Its about 4 miles from the present town Bar.Situated on a large rock on three sides protected with cliffs along the west side is provided with walls.In the town are the remains of 240 buildings in ruins with narrow winding streets and irregular squares.houses are made of hewn stone with one or two floors.
Few objects like hamam,clock tower were built in ottoman era also like aqueduct which supplied old town bar with fresh water.
There are few  sacral buildings from middle age like church of St.Teodore(later church of St.Djordja) church of St. Nikola (later church of St.Marko ),church of St.Venerande an church of St.Katarine.
Position of old town Bar gives an opportunity to the visitors that from the old walls experience panorama of the green fields of Bar,new part of town,port of Bar,open sea and masiff of Rumia.Special attraction of old town is the market where sellers dressed in traditional costumes of this region offer their customers homemade products like citrus fruits,olivs,bar’s olive oil,chesse and a variety of local  handicrafts.

Old olive and olive grovs

Old olive tree on Mirovica is a natural monument that is protected by law in 1963.It’s over 2.000 years old and is considered as the oldest tree in Europe.Volume of tree is 10m.The legend says that around olive were maintained meetings between feuding families and at that point it came to reconciliation.
Olive groves on Bar territory are known for its olive trees which number is over 100.000 olivs most of them is over 1000 year old.
The story about Bar’s live groves  is very interesting-no young man could not get married  if before that do not plant a cetain number of olive shoots.
In Old Town Bar it still existed in 1927 year  “oil producers brace maric “ where recently processed and to 20T on olives and it produced a famous Bar’s oil which was exported to America,France and Germanu

King Nikola Castle

Built in 1885, on the coast. It consists of a large castle, a small castle, a chapel, a watchtower and winter gardens. In 1910, it was also made a dancing hall. Within the castle there is a park with a large number of Mediterranean plants (among other things cork tree).
Before the castle was built a wooden pier, which was used for docking boats and yachts, where the King Nikola greeted and escorted significant figures who visited him in Cetinje.

In the period from 1866 to 1916,he also  had ten yachts. One of them, "Sybil" was bought from novelist Jules Verne, and his last yacht "Rumija" was sunk in 1915 on the site of the present city marina by the Austro-Hungarian gunboats.

SKADAR LAKE

It’s the biggest lake on the Balkan Peninsula .It’s located in the southeast part of Montenegro in the valley which is separated from the sea with mountain Rumija.The lake is 50km.kong and 14km. wide.The lake surface is not always the same.In the spring and at fall when water level rise the area of lake is about 500km,while during summer when water level is low the area is about 350km.Lake is the border with Albania.Montenegro belongs 63,2%..The coast is indented with numerous coves and picturesque fishing villages. The lake has a large number of islands popularly called hills. Not far from Virpazar to the Krajina  there is a large number of inserted with sandy beaches, the most famous Murići long 560m.
Lake is a special ecosystems with a large percentage of wetland zone.In the summer  lake looks like  huge green meadow with numerous blossoming water lilies and other pond vegetation.Lake is  inhabited by over 40 species of fish( carp, bleak, eel) and is known for the diversity of birds that live around the lake( 270 species)Some are endangered spieces( pelican, heron, cormorant, snipe) . It’ a famous hunting ground. Above the lake there is a lookout which offers a unique panoramic view of the lake with sandy beaches, chestnut forests and dispersed islands.
Boats in the summer organize excursions -Cruising Skadar lake. The rich flora and fauna, cultural and historical monuments, picturesque villages, as well as the opportunity to taste local specialties like carp, bleak, hamstrings, Crmnica famous wine “vranac “ represent a unique experience. The peculiarity of the lake is the "Kasaronja" plant with edible fruit, which is only on the lake.
